Derbyshire Health United Limited is a social enterprise
and a not for profit company, known locally as DHU.
The company was established in April 2007 as a result of a merger between two Derbyshire
based companies that were set up by local general practitioners. More details about
the history and previous company details can be found in our
‘Background and History’
section.
DHU is now officially classified as a medium sized organisation under The Confederation
of British Industry's definition. We are, however, large enough to be operationally
robust but small enough to care and to be flexible in meeting our commissioners’
requirements. We are often told that we have a “can do” attitude and hope that you
will find this in your dealings with DHU.
At DHU we are committed to providing the highest quality of medical care at the
right place and at the right time. We are a flexible company and so we are able
to rapidly adapt to the changing health service by working closely alongside our
commissioners, adapting to their needs where necessary.
As a not for profit organisation, any surplus funds generated are reinvested in
our staff and facilities so that the patients we serve gain greatest benefit.
